What earns a payout

All of the following have to happen:

  1. A new client signs up using your referral link.
  2. They post a job and hire a professional through the platform.
  3. They complete that project — every milestone approved and the funds released from escrow.

The referral is for clients. Referring another professional does not earn a payout.

How much you earn

You earn 35% of the platform fee ScriptyPointer keepson the referred client's first completed project, capped at $500.

Our fee is a percentage of each milestone, deducted from the professional doing the work. It is 5% to 21% depending on that professional's standing — 13% is standard, 5% for founding members, and 21% where a professional's rating has fallen below our threshold. Which means your payout depends partly on who your referred client ends up hiring, and we would rather tell you that up front than have you work it out from a smaller-than-expected number.

Worked example

  • Client's first project$2,000

If they hire a founding member instead, our fee on the same project is $100 and your payout is $35. Projects large enough to generate more than about $1,430 in fees hit the $500 cap.

When you get paid

Once the referred client's first project is complete and the escrow funds have been released, the payout is sent to your connected payout account, usually within a few hours. You need a completed payout setup to receive it — if yours is not finished, the payout waits for you rather than being cancelled.

It is one payout per referred client, on their first completed project only. Projects they run afterwards do not earn further referral payments.

Eligibility and fair use

  • You and the client must be unaffiliated. Referring yourself, your own business, a business you control, or a related entity is not eligible.
  • A client can only be referred once, by one person — whoever's link they arrived through first.
  • Referral links are for people you actually think would benefit. Spam, paid search on our brand name, misleading claims about the platform, and posting your link where it is not welcome are all grounds for removal from the program.
  • If you promote ScriptyPointer publicly, say that you earn a commission. It is the honest thing to do and in many places it is also the law.
  • We may withhold or reverse a payout where a referral appears manufactured, and we may review the accounts involved.
  • Referral payments are income. You are responsible for your own taxes on them.
